A dance theatre show
Taven Baxtale! – Be lucky!
a dance theatre show
„It is shaped by my two hands, danced by my feet, it is the music of my heart”
Hungarian gypsy crafts, virtuoso dances, feelings of life…
The performance aims to present the crafts related to the Gypsy people in the most complex and diverse way possible. Just as the crafts themselves are very diverse, the performance strives for formal and artistic diversity as well. To create this, it uses the musical and vocal material of the varied Gypsy dances of the Hungarian-speaking region of the Carpathian Basin as a tool, while also taking a look at the Western and Eastern European Gypsy culture. It also gives an insight into the daily life of blacksmiths and wire smiths, Boyash Gypsies and mud-working gypsies, as well as into the lives of stuntmen and musicians. The dramaturgical leitmotif of the performance is the portrayal of the gypsies’ wandering nature. The performance is interwoven with a cavalcade of crafts, from which one always stands out. The etude-like structure also allows for alternating scenes, sometimes balladic and lyrical, sometimes lively and comical ones, while providing insights not only into the crafts, but also into the origins and history of the Gypsy people.
