We believe in the contemporary artistic presentation of folk dance. We believe that it reaches the people of today through its power and naturalness.”

The work of the creative couple of Dezső Fitos and Enikő Kocsis is of decisive importance and a guiding example in the dance scene of the Carpathian Basin. Not only are they permanent creators and dance masters of Hungarian amateur and professional ensembles, but thanks to their camps and courses, they have also been playing a significant role in the life of Hungarian amateur groups and professional dance companies across the border for decades. They are inspired by the cultural diversity of the Carpathian Basin and its inexhaustible folklore treasure, its varied and colourful world. Their performances are always based on authentic collections, dance and music material, but while respecting tradition, they boldly experiment with other performing arts genres to expand the boundaries between the different styles. Puppet theatre, theatre and circus art, as well as other genres of dance are integrated into Hungarian folklore heritage, creating fusions in which other folk dance based elements enhance each other to create original works. These unique works, which preserve the authenticity of their components and are ultimately unique, reach audiences and make them devoted to folk dance for whom Hungarian folklore was previously unknown.

The members of the Fitos Dezső Dance Company are exceptional young dancers. Their dedication and talent have been recognised by the most prestigious national professional awards. The dancers include Golden Spurs and Golden Pearl soloists, winners of the Fülöp Viktor Dance Scholarship and the Junior Prima Award. The company has trained generations of artists who are now leading figures in Hungarian folk dance, soloists in professional ensembles and leaders of renowned amateur ensembles in Hungary and abroad.

Since 2022, the Fitos Dezső Dance Company has been the youngest Hungarian professional dance ensemble.
